Elly, a secondary school student from Hertfordshire, completed a week's work experience at Eurovia during the summer. As the daughter of Eurovia Surfacing's Technical Director Paul Kidd, Elly was keen to get a taste of the world of work and a better understanding of the industry in which her father has spent many of his working years.

Starting her working week at the Eurovia office in Cheshunt, Elly had the chance to meet some of the office staff, learning about the different roles within the delegation and how they all work together. Following this, Elly had the opportunity to visit the Polybitumens and Eurovia Roadstone facilities, spend time on site with Eurovia Surfacing and work in the labs with Jean Lefebvre (UK).

Following her work experience week, Elly wrote to express her thanks to the team: "I am emailing to say Thank You to you and all the team at Eurovia for my work experience with you last week.

"During my time with the office staff, I really enjoyed being on reception and seeing how many different roles there are, all of which work together.

"I also enjoyed my visit to Polybitumens and I wanted to thank Paul (Kimber) for giving up his time to show me around the facility.

"I am grateful to JLUK for the time I spent in the lab, learning about the tests they carry out in their important work.

"On my final day I visited Roadstone where I experienced what it is like to mix asphalt with Paul Warwick.

It was a very helpful introduction to the world of work, and it has inspired me to think what I would like to do in the future."

We hope through work shadowing opportunities, apprenticeship schemes and graduate placements, Eurovia continues to be a company that inspires the next generation into our industry.
